Carole Jean Fashingbauer

Carole Jean Fashingbauer, 78 passed away peacefully on June 16th surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Chicago, IL to Leonard and Mary Gleeson Rosengren on December 7th, 1944.

She had 4 children with her former Husband Vince Altamore and later married Thomas Fashingbauer on June 14th, 1985 in Chicago.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother (Gigi). She was a devoted friend, a long time member of her church, Zion Lutheran in Marengo. She always put others before herself and made all who came into her world feel welcome, loved and understood. She was known for her kind heart, infectious laugh and her unwavering spirit, which touched the lives of everyone she met.

We all looked to her as the foundation of our family and share many fond memories because of her ability to bring people together and celebrate. She will be greatly missed here on earth, but her legacy will be carried on, and we know that she is at peace and fully healed, celebrating with the lord.

Carole is survived by her husband, Thomas Fashingbauer, her daughter Laura Altamore (Kevin) and son’s, Matthew (Olga), Michael (Elise)and Mark (Deanna); her two step children, Mark and Paul Fashingbauer. Her 14 beloved grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Charles. And former husband Vince Altamore.

A visitation to honor Carole's life and legacy will be held Sunday, June 25th from 1:00pm - 4:00pm at Zion Lutheran Church 412 Jackson Street Marengo IL 60152. Funeral service to immediately follow visitation. Fellowship dinner will be held following the service at a local establishment.  Interment will be held privately. Donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church School Tuition Fund or St. Jude Childrens Hospital at stjude.org.  Arrangements entrusted to the family firm Marengo Community Funeral Service, owned and operated by her husband Tom Fashingbauer, with the assistance of Cardinal Funeral Home of Crystal Lake.
