It is with great sadness we announce the death of Chris Thompson. Chris died in the early hours of August 20, 2023 at the age of 52, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Chris was having difficulty breathing and after taking oxygen he became unresponsive and could not be revived by cpr.
Chris lived in Crystal Lake, IL with his wife Melissa after growing up in Wauconda.
Chris married Melissa the greatest wife ever on September 20, 1997 after being together since 1992. They had a daughter Cassandra and two step sons from Chris’s first marriage that he treated as his own Robert and James Saltz.
Chris worked for the IBEW Local 117 for almost 30 years as a Foreman in the low voltage side. Chris enjoyed running jobs and comradery with the guys he worked with. When not working he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, partying, playing games, hanging out together and cooking, he would make the most delicious meals and then ask everyone how they liked it, definitely appreciated “compliments to the chef”. Chris especially enjoyed the time he spent watching and playing with his grandson Xavier. Chris loved having a good time and being the life of the party. Chris is survived by his wife Melissa, daughter Cassandra (Adam) Carr, and step sons Robert (Ashley) Saltz and James (Ashley) Saltz and eight grandkids, brother Kelly Thompson, nephew Brandon Thompson, aunt Shannon Bloznik, cousin Rob (Rebecca) Van Pelt, uncle Tracey Thompson, Father and Mother in law Chuck and Judi Stuck, mother Jackie Smith and aunt Dar Freeman and many friends. Chris’s dad Kelly Thompson preceded him in death in 1994 and his grandmother Annie Thompson in 2016.
