Diane Elizabeth Smusz, 71, passed away on October 28,2020 at her home surrounded by family. Diane is the beloved daughter of the late Thomas Joseph and Mary Jane Smusz and loving sister of the late Thomas George (Chantal). Diane is survived by her partner, the love of her life, Robert Charles Temple (seated to the right of Diane in picture), her loving brother D Robert (Gail) and was “Mom” to Harvey their cherished Jack Russell Terrier. Diane was born on February 15, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio. Family was especially important to Diane and she played a key role in the lives of her many family members over the years. Diane is survived by her Nephews Tony (Shannon), Todd (Melanie) and Chris (Jennifer). Diane is also survived by great nephews and niece Christian (Morgan) and Calaen Smusz and Justin and Ella Smusz. Diane also adored her great-great nephew Oakland. Diane was also “Grama D.” to Lukas, Thomas, Joey and Sean Jarrell and Joce and Belle Splitgerber. Diane was fond Stepmom to Andy Splitgerber and Betsey Jarrell. Diane was best known for her Sunday “Love Taps” to family and friends and her amazing “Gatherings“ that she planned and executed flawlessly for friends, family and co-workers. Diane’s successful career took her all over the United States. She started in the food service business at the Holiday Inn in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Diane was the founder of the Kalamazoo Visitor Bureau and was honored by proclamation by the Michigan State Legislature for her many achievements. The next step in Diane’s journey was to Avon Products, Inc where she spent 30+ years touching and enhancing the lives of thousands of Avon Representatives, Sales Leaders and co-workers across the company. Diane was known for putting her “fingerprints” on everything and everyone she touched over the years. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Diane’s name to the American Cancer Society (donate3.cancer.org). We will “Gather” at a later date to celebrate Diane’s life.
