“Gentleman” Jim Collier

Born: September 12, 1952 in Woodstock, IL

Passed away: Sunday, October 1, 2023

James Robert Collier, born to Marle (Bob) and Ruth Collier lived most of his life in Woodstock, IL. The last 22 years, he shared his life with his loving wife, Carol, living in rural Marengo, IL. Jim graduated from Woodstock High School in 1970; and attended Western Illinois University, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelors’ degree in History.

Survivors include wife Carol (Bond) Collier of 31 years; sister Julia (Collier) Huslig, and husband Alan Huslig of Tucson, Arizona; brother David Collier of Tucson, Arizona; stepdaughter Season Davis of Spring, Texas; grandson Lincoln Denlinger of Spring Texas; and nephews Matthew Collier, Cooper Huslig, and Trey Huslig.

Jim had many exceptional groups with whom he shared life. In the early years, he enjoyed road biking with friends who spent weekends riding all through the countryside of McHenry County. For several years, they also participated in the week-long RAGBRAI event biking across Iowa. Jim had gaming friends who played D&D, cribbage, backgammon, Risk and dice. He was also a talented guitar player and singer, sharing his love of music with his musical buddies on numerous occasions.

Jim had a love of golf, whether on a league, golfing with a friend, or with the “geezers” at Beaver Creek, he truly loved the game.

There are no planned services or visitation. In the following months, we will gather to celebrate Jim’s special life.

Alzheimer’s robbed Jim and his wife Carol of their dreams for retirement to do some traveling, share good conversation, and just enjoy life together. Alzheimer’s is a devastating disease. If you would like to donate to support research for a cure, please go to ALZ.org.

Keep on playin’. Java – out.
