James William Komperda of Port Charlotte, has passed away peacefully August 17, 2021. Born and raised in Chicago, he served proudly in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965 and then as a reservist until 1967. During his naval career, he was particularly proud of four facts; his military-related education at M.I.T., serving on the U.S.S Constitution "Old Ironsides", serving on the U.S.S. Sampson, and for having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. A longtime resident of Crystal Lake, IL. where he lived and raised his family. He traveled often as part of his various vocations, seeing a good amount of our country, particularly east of the Mississippi river. After his beloved Marge passed tragically in 2011, James moved to Port Charlotte, FL. in 2013, where he lived until his own passing. He was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan like his father. His interests included gardening and movies. He was a particular fan of Bond films and considered himself an original Star Trek Trekker. While he himself had a high threshold for pain, James could never stand the sight of others in pain, real or fictional and was often generous with his time and experience to friends and neighbors in need. The middle of the seven children of Casmir "Casey" and Helen (nee. Kossakowski). Siblings Kenneth, Thomas, Richard, William, Mary-Ellen, and Julie. He is survived by Richard, William and Julie. Survived by Son Andrew (Abigal), Grandson Nathan - Yorkville IL. James is preceded by his wife, Margaret "Marge" Mary Komperda (nee. Nothem) Married April 29th, 1972.
