Joy passed away on August 23rd, 2022. She was the beloved widow to Edgar McGuire and Charles “BUD” Bennett. Loving mother to Scott and Paula Bennett Urbana, MO and Cyndy Handley of Bentonville, AR. Stepmother to Mark and Cindy Cordes of Crystal Lake, IL and Tom McGuire. Beloved grandma to Anna Clevenger of Neosho, MO, Taylor Cordes (John Grum) of Chicago IL., Grant Cordes (Eddie Byrne) of Chicago IL., Ryan (Margaret) Cordes of Crystal Lake, IL. Great Grandmother to Colbie Grum, Brittney Kimbrough, and Great, Great Grandmother to Abigal Kimbrough and Mallory Kimbrough.

Joy was predeceased by her husband’s Charles “BUD” Bennett of Buffalo, Missouri, Ed McGuire of Crystal Lake, Illinois and dear daughter Kimberly Bennett.

Joy was a proud member of the Buffalo First Christian Church for 60 years where she and Bud raised their family. Joy was extremely active in the church and created lifelong friends through church. Joy loved sports and played and coached softball for many years. Joy and Bud enjoyed fishing and camping with the kids and friends. Joy and Bud taught swimming lessons through the Red Cross for many years.

Joy was a Tax Accountant for over 50 years and absolutely loved it. She also worked for OACAC for over 20 years and helped hundreds of kids get summer jobs and learn about life.

In 1998 Joy married Ed McGuire and they moved to Crystal Lake, IL. They loved community work and she also was a member of Bethany Luthern church of Crystal Lake, IL. Joy and Ed were very active in the church helping with (PADS) Crystal Lake’s program for homeless that the church was involved in. If you visited them close to Easter their basement looked like a staging area for the Easter Bunny. Joy and Ed always made sure all the kids with PADS had a Great Easter basket. Joy volunteered at the RAU Theatre and belonged to the Crystal Lake Garden Club.

Joy’s love for Crystal Lake, her Crystal Lake family and husband Ed could not be surpassed. She loved family get together’s enjoying many fine meals at her house, at Cindi and Marks, with their friends on their cul da sac at Wood Mar Terrace or Crystal Lake at the summer concerts.

A memorial service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake Saturday September 17, 2022 at 11am. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral service. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial has been set at Bethany Luthern Church in Crystal Lake, IL Attn: Pastor Paul.
