Lynn Bartlett Bonti, known to many by the affectionate moniker Yuckariah J. Springfield, age 71, passed away peacefully on August 11th, 2023.
Lynn was born on July 30th, 1952, in Goldsboro, NC. In her youth she was a talented pianist with a passion for the Carolina coast and devotion to her two younger brothers. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 1974. There she met her husband, Paul Bonti, to whom she was married on August 12th, 1972. In December 2022, Lynn and Paul celebrated more than fifty years of marriage with a festive holiday gathering of their boisterous family.
In 1983 Lynn moved to Crystal Lake, IL where she raised her four children and was an active contributor to her community. As a longtime member of the Crystal Lake Jaycees, Lynn participated in numerous service projects and earned state-level recognition for her leadership of the chapter’s Christmas basket project. She worked for many years at Montgomery Ward and finished her working years with Chase Bank in Elgin, IL.
Lynn is remembered by all who knew her for her Southern-tinged sweetness, her readiness to lend caring support to others in need, and most of all for her inexhaustible kindness. She opened her house and her heart to her friends and all her children’s friends, and made a home that emanated light and fellowship. To spend time in Lynn’s home was to know that one was loved.
Lynn is survived by her husband, Paul Bonti; her children Brian (Jennifer), Gregg (Heather), Karyn and Julia; her many grandchildren who she cherished with every fiber of her being: Kalie and Joshua Schock, Benjamin Sherwood, Brogan and Asher Pappalardo, Joseph Faulkner, and Quinn, Autumn, Sophia and Caius Bonti; and her brother Gary (Mary) Bartlett and nephew Will. She was preceded in death by her parents Luther Osborne (aka Oz) & Caroline Bartlett, and her brother Timothy Bartlett.
An open house will be held from 1 to 4pm (service at 1:30pm) on Saturday, August 19th at Cardinal Funeral & Cremation Services at 7715 W Route 14, Crystal Lake, IL 60012. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lynn’s name to Kids in Need of McHenry County.
