Matthew J. Tremethick

Matthew J. Tremethick, 38, of Marengo passed away suddenly at home surrounded by his loving wife and family.. Born in Woodstock to his devoted parents Neal and Carol (nee Maretti) Tremethick August 12, 1981. Beloved husband of Rebecca Tremethick (nee Berger) for 17 years. Loving father of Michael Tremethick (11 yrs) and Dylan Tremethick (8yrs); dear brother of Sean Tremethick; grandson of Jan Maretti; fond nephew of Teri Foust and family and late Uncle Michael J. Maretti; caring cousin to Michael D. Maretti and family; and loving nephew of numerous aunts and uncles; and many cousins. Matthew is preceded in death by his grandfather Mike Maretti and Mother in-law Irene Berger. Matthew is remembered by his caring, loving and adventurous spirit. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Marengo and gave generously by serving at the AWANA Program at Orchard Church of Marengo. He achieved a bachelors degree in Christian Studies after graduating from Marengo Community High School. He successfully led and became chaplain of Boy Scout Troop 530. Matthew also served his community by serving as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the city of Marengo for 10 years. When he wasn't serving his community Matthew enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. He also liked riding motorcycles and was a member of the National Harley Owners Group. Join Matthew's Family in honoring his life, visitation hours will be Friday January 24, 2020 from 4pm - 7pm at the First Baptist Church of Marengo 306 E Washington Street, Marengo IL 60152 with a funeral service at church the following day, Saturday at 11am. Internment to immediately follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
