Rosemary J. Polnow

Rosemary J. Polnow, age 94, of Crystal Lake passed peacefully on January 24, 2022 at Journey Care in Barrington IL, with family members by her side. She was born in Chicago, IL, to William and Catherine (Kapler) Peterman on April 12, 1927. She married Howard A. Polnow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marengo, IL on June 12, 1948. Rosemary was a member of Catholic Foresters and the American Legion Auxillary, worked at McHenry County Catholic Social Services, took classes at McHenry County College, was a member of the St. Thomas St Teresa Women’s Guild, volunteered at Little Christopher’s Resale Shop. Rosemary and Howard traveled together stateside and internationally and enjoyed family gatherings for the holidays and special occasions. She also was a Bowler, Bingo and Poker player with family and friends. Rosemary and Howard lovingly raised 10 children, Barbara Toussaint, Kenneth (Mary), Laura (Daniel) McHugh, Howard (Susan), Marianne Barton, Ginny (Matt) Cummings, Timothy (Lori), William (Julie), Teresa (John) Quinney, Steven (Donna). Grandchildren Diane (Rich) Phillips, Dawn (Rob) Romines, Shawn Toussaint, Kimberly Toussaint, Christopher Toussaint, Carrie Polnow, Joannna (Kyle) Berge and Kevin Barton, Micheal, Brian, and Madelyn Cummings, Timothy Jr, Sophia (Austin Smith) , Constance, Zachary, Thomas, and Augustine Polnow, Alexander, Olivia, and Nicholas Polnow, Samantha (Ryan) Johnson, Maxine Quinney, Michelle Polnow, great grandchildren Alec, Aaron, Grace Phillips, Brenden, Caitlin, Jacob Donovan, Jazlyn Pacyna, Jaydon Romines, and step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, and a step-great-great grandchildren. She was proceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and three sisters William, Leo, Caroline, Anne, Lillian (Marjorie), son-in-law Bruce , grandchildren Adrian Cummings and Jacklyn Quinney. Visitation will be at Cardinal Funeral and Cremation Services, Ltd, 7715 W Rt 14, Crystal Lake, IL on Tuesday, Feb 1, 2022, from 9AM-9:45 and proceed to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Rt 176 and Oak St for the Funeral Mass at 10AM. Interment will be private. Memorials can be made to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry or your favorite charity.
