Scott Dale Karsten passed away peacefully on June 29, 2024. He was born on October 29, 1961 to Dale and Jane (Nicklas) Karsten and the world welcomed a truly unique guy!
He grew up in Fox River Grove where he met the love of his life, Lynn Bringe, and married her 39 years ago. But the proudest day of his life was the day his son, Dale William, was born.
Scott loved to work and was a gifted mechanic and welder. He held many varied positions in his career and was proud that he retired as head of maintenence for the Seele Corporation.
Scott was a hot rodder who loved to spend time in his garage working on classic old trucks not only for himself, but for his many friends as well. His garage was his happy place and his motto was "Nothing is junk until I say it's junk."
He loved going to junk yards, swap meets and cruise nights. Four things his pickups had in common: They were Fords, they were loud, he gave them names and they were lit up to the max. His pride and joy was his 1964 award winning Ford F-150 Lil' Red. He celebrated his 50th birthday with a tattoo of Lil' Red. He loved collecting Matchbox and Hot Wheels and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Scott was a "catch and release" fisherman who loved the lakeside solitude. He loved old 70s country music and ELO and did an awesome Donald Duck impression just to make you laugh. He was always willing to help anyone with projects big or small, loved going to breakfast with friends and was a positive fun guy to be around.
Scott is survived by his wife Lynn and son Dale. His mother Jane and sisters Sally (Frank) Pace and Carol Taylor. His Bringe family, Pat, Scott and Laura. He was a fun-loving uncle to his nieces and nephews. His father, sister Lori, father-in-law Bill, and many friends are in heaven to welcome him.
Scott wished to be cremated without any funeral services. He wanted his family and friends to celebrate his life and remember all the happy times they shared. His friends and family are planning a car show in his honor.
