Steven C. Glasshagel

Steven “Steve” C. Glasshagel, 70, of Crystal Lake passed away, surrounded by his family, on April 16, 2021 in the comfort of JourneyCare in Barrington, IL. He was born in Elgin, IL on February 23, 1951 to Erwin and Ann (nee Jorgenson) Glasshagel. Steve will be remembered for his humor and wit as well as his ability to tell a great story. He loved working with his hands and created beautiful pieces, once he had a plan and knew he could make it perfect. Steve had an “artist’s brain” so expressing exactly how he felt was sometimes difficult in words (beyond saying “I love you” which he said often); he demonstrated his love in tangible ways and by showing up. He enjoyed a simple life with simple joys. He knew himself to be “The Grill Master” and rarely passed up an opportunity to play a game of Bags or Horseshoes. Steve served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed working on cars and worked as a truck driver for many years; it was a job that he loved and took pride in. Steve was generous with his time and talents and gave great hugs. Steve was lovingly married to Robin (nee Bergeron) for 44 years. In that time, they raised three children; Ryan (Amanda) Glasshagel of Edgerton, WI, Dawn Glasshagel, of Crystal Lake, IL and Lisa (Kristopher) Jensen of Spring Hill, TN. Steve adored his grandchildren Joshua, Everett, Claire, Bennett, Gracy and Miles. He is preceded in death by his father and siblings Chuck, Ronnie, Cheryl Glasshagel and Sandy (Dave) Hoagland. He is survived by his mother, wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings Mike, Erv Glasshagel, and Linda Ellett, as well as nieces and nephews who remember him for his humor and being their “Uncle Goofy.” Join us in honoring Steve on Saturday May 1, 2021 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm at Cardinal Funeral Home 7715 US Highway 14, Crystal Lake, IL 60012.
