Thomas C. Gries

Thomas C. Gries passed away November 10, 2023, at the age of 75 from natural causes in Barrington, IL. Born September 5, 1948 in Chicago, IL, he was one of ten children of Charles H. & Catherine (Prendergast) Gries, deceased.

Thomas was a devoted adoptive father of twins, a charismatic teacher at DePaul University, a successful CEO at TESCO and a humanitarian to his family and friends. He was a lover of life who wanted the best for anyone he called friend and his legacy lives on through the hearts he touched around him. His conscientiousness, mentorship, generosity, and witty quips will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his children Justus W. Gries (Heather Fenniman) of Chicago, IL, James L. Gries of Raleigh, NC, his grandchild Carson T. Gries, and his longtime friend and caregiver, Christian Solorio along with his siblings Charles J. Gries (Maureen) of Barrington, IL, James P. Gries (Maureen) of Fairfield Glade, TN, Robert Gries (Judith) of Woodstock, CT, Catherine G. Beattie (Patrick, deceased) of Elmhurst, IL, Louis Gries (Lisa) of Newport Beach, CA, John Gries (Suzanne) of Brush Prairie, WA, Janice Gries of Naperville, IL, Patrick J. Gries (Patty) of Northbrook, IL, and William J. Gries (Kelley) of Long Grove, IL.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, December 3 from 12PM to 4PM CST at River Roast, Murdoch Room; 315 N Lasalle, Chicago IL 60654. Please RSVP here by November 20:
